IDS-Dual-Mode RFID
Active/Passive RF RFID
Extends Access Control Range and Comfort
Description:
The proposed access control system is based on ISO 15693 vicinity RFID systems. The additional active module extends the operation range from typically 15 ~ 50 cm to 2 meters. This drastically improves user comfort because there is no need to stop and hold the tag close to the reader to gain access to certain premises or equipment. Users can leave their tags in their pockets. The HF frequency 13.56 MHz also is used for active parts of the system; the communication is magnetic, and the range can be limited to 2 meters, which is desirable for security access control systems.
Key Features:
- Dual mode:
- Active mode with extended range of approximately 2 meters
- Passive mode range 15 ~ 50 cm
- Frequency: 13.56 MHz
- Fully compliant with ISO 15693 in passive mode
- More comfort with extended range (users can leave their key fobs in their pockets)
- Active RFID with passive back-up system assures full functionality with limited range in case of battery loss
- Low power with average current consumption below 5µA
Applications:
- People access control with extended range
- Security systems with enhanced comfort
